Typographic Poster Series

The focus of this assignment was to work with typography. Students had to create a series of three 8 x 17" posters. A sketchbook noting their process was required.

Manipulation of type from the lyrics of a song or text from a poem was the inspiration for these pieces. No additional literal graphics could be included but the students were encouraged to work with text through computer, photocopier and hand manipulation. Experimentation was stressed and students were encouraged to play with as many materials as they could find. Many students cut, ripped, scratched and crumpled their text while manipulating it on the photocopier with ink, markers and tissue paper (among other things).
